BUILDLOGIC HEADER JOBS

  1. What is a Header Job?

A Header Job allows the grouping of jobs to facilitate reporting across multiple functions within Buildlogic.     For example, you may have development that is done in stages or a job that has multiple parts that are run as separate jobs but you want the ability to report each individual job or as a consolidated job.   Using Header Jobs allow for this.

Note:  No transactions are input against Header Jobs.   They are all put against the individual jobs.

  1. Activating Header Jobs

This first step is a Buildlogic Administrator function.   The administrator will need to go to Setting/Other Tab– tick the new check box “Show header jobs”.

Once the Administrator has activated Header Jobs, there are 2 places you can set up Header Jobs.

In the top menu - Job dropdown, there is now a new option – Header Job List.   Select the dropdown and you can then add your Header Jobs.

Or, you can also add a Header Job by clicking the “Create as header job” button in the job edit page – details tab.

Note:  This button only shows on jobs, that are not linked to a header job.

When setting up a job, there is now a new option on the Job detail tab where you can link a job to a Header Job that has previously been set up.

When you go back to your Header Job list, if you highlight your Header Job, you can see at the bottom of the screen the individual jobs that are linked to that Header Job.   In the example below, two jobs have been link to the Header Job – Kerry.    They are 1748 and 1748AB.

Note:  There is no limit to the number of jobs that can be linked to one Header Job.

  1. Where are Header Jobs Activated in Buildlogic?

All functions where you can select multiple jobs from a dropdown, allow you to either select the Header Job or the individual jobs.

This function has been added to allow you to get a list of Purchases, Contracts, Gantt, Cash flow, Time Costing & Web timesheets.

The following screen, which is an example from Purchases, is displayed.   From here, if you select Kerry, the 2 linked jobs are also selected and when you hit the Close button you will see the list of POs for those 2 jobs.

With Progress Claims, Cashflow and Forecasting you can produce reports/word documents that combine your jobs under the Header Job if required.

In the example below, Job 1784 has been opened to create Progress Claim C002.   At the dropdown at the bottom is a new document – Progress Claim Payment for Header Jobs.   If you select this template, it will produce the progress claims for both the linked jobs in on 1784 & 1784AB under the Header Job named Kerry.

Note:   You will need to have your Progress Claim templates updated to be able to produce them at the header level.

  1. Things to Remember when using Header Jobs?

  1. Jobs must have the same Job Type – Lump Sum, Design & Construct, Cost Plus or Construction Management.    You cannot at this point, use Header Jobs for jobs with different Job Types.

  1. Jobs must also all be set up the same way – if using Claim Stages, all jobs must be set up with Claim Stages, if doing progress claims by % complete, all jobs must be set up the same.
