Subcontracts in Buildlogic were created with the ability to choose, how you would like to present the contract to your contractor; without having to make any changes to how you create your job budget.

What this means is, you're able to pick up any lines from your job budget and assign them to a contract, when you assign lines to a contract, they will flow over to the 'budget details' tab of the contract. Think of the 'budget details' tab as a holding area for your contracts budget, the 'contract details' tab is the actual contract itself, this is what will be presented on your templates, etc.

When you have your budget lines in the 'budget details' tab, it's time to create the 'contract details', you have a couple of options when creating the 'contract details'.

If the budget is laid out in a way that you would like to present to your contractor

You can hit the 'copy budget detail into letting' button (shown below) in the contract details tab, this will copy the lines in the 'budget details' tab over to the 'contract details' tab.

If your job budget is not helpful to the contractor or contains information you don't want them to see, you also have the ability to enter lines in the contract details tab manually, this gives you the ability to present your contract to your contractor however you please, while still keeping track of the budget in the 'budget details' tab and gain/loss box at the top right of the contract. While the contract is in draft status you can hit the +new button in the 'contract details' tab to enter any info.

If you'd only like to pull in single lines from the 'budget details' tab, rather than all of them, you have a button in the 'budget details' tab called 'insert selected into contract' you can use this to copy over individual lines from the 'budget details' into the 'contract details tab, this can be helpful for head contract variations added to the contract after it has commenced.
