Provisional Sums Register
The Provisional Sums Register provides a central view of all provisional sums within a job, allowing users to track allowances, manage adjustments, and monitor financial impact.
Provisional sums represent estimated allowances within a contract that may change as more information becomes available.
Grid Overview
The register displays all provisional sums in a structured grid format with key columns:
- PS Number – Unique provisional sum reference
- Scope of Work – Description of the allowance
- Site Instruction – Related instruction reference
- Amount Submitted – Estimated or claimed value
- Amount Approved – Approved amount
- Client Number – External/client reference
Totals for submitted and approved amounts are displayed at the bottom of the grid.

Opening & Editing Provisional Sums
- Select a row and click Edit to open the record
- Loads the Provisional Sum Edit screen dynamically
- Maintains job context and reference values
Navigation may occur without a full page refresh depending on user action.
Toolbar Actions
The toolbar provides key actions for managing provisional sums:
Create & Edit
- Create a new provisional sum
- Edit selected record
Delete & Refresh
- Delete selected provisional sum
- Refresh the grid
Export
- Export to PDF
- Export to DOCX
- Export to RTF
- Export to Excel (XLSX)

Pagination & Navigation
- Grid supports paging for large datasets
- Page size can be adjusted
- Navigation controls allow movement between pages
This ensures performance remains efficient when handling many provisional sums.
Tips
- Save page size and column width changes using the refresh button above the table
- Regularly review provisional sums to track cost uncertainty
- Compare submitted vs approved amounts for accuracy
- Update provisional sums as scope becomes defined
- Use export features for reporting and client updates
- Ensure all records are clearly described for audit purposes
