Defect Index Screen

The Defect List screen is used to manage and track all defects identified within a project.
It allows users to monitor defect status, assign responsibility, and track resolution progress.

Toolbar Actions

  • New – Create a new defect record.
  • Edit – Open the selected defect for editing.
  • Delete – Remove the selected defect (with confirmation prompt).
  • Refresh – Reload the defect list.
  • Copy Defect – Duplicate an existing defect record.
  • Export– Export defect data to:
    • PDF
    • Word (DOCX)
    • RTF
    • Excel (XLSX)
  • Save Layout – Save grid layout preferences (columns, sorting).
  • Search – Locate defects using keywords.
  • Show Completed Defects – Toggle visibility of closed defects.
Toolbar actions allow full lifecycle management and reporting of defects.


Defect Grid – Field Definitions

  • Number – Unique defect identifier (e.g. DF0001).
  • Title – Short description of the defect.
  • Date – Date the defect was recorded.
  • Date Due – Target resolution date.
  • Created By – User or company who logged the defect.
  • Action Required By – Responsible party assigned to resolve the defect.
  • Status – Current state (e.g. New, In Progress, Closed).
These fields provide visibility into defect ownership and resolution progress.

Defects ensure quality control and issue tracking throughout the project lifecycle.

Tips

  • Record defects as soon as they are identified
  • Assign clear responsibility to avoid delays
  • Set realistic due dates
  • Use Copy Defect for recurring issues
  • Regularly review open defects to maintain quality
